Amazon is Developing an Animated Warhammer 40,000 Series: Henry Cavill to Serve as Producer

Amazon MGM Studios, in collaboration with Blur Studios and Games Workshop, has begun development on an animated series set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Henry Cavill will serve as an executive producer on the project, while simultaneously leading and producing the upcoming live-action series based on the franchise for Amazon.

The new project will serve as a spinoff of the animated anthology "Secret Level," which featured a standalone Warhammer 40,000 episode in late 2024. Dave Wilson, who directed the aforementioned episode, will act as co-creator and director. He is developing the script alongside John Orloff ("Masters of the Air," "Band of Brothers").

The story will focus on The Deathwatch — an elite Space Marine unit specializing in hunting down alien threats.

Joining Wilson and Cavill on the executive producing team are Tim Miller, Natalie Viscuso, Roy Lee, and Andy Smillie. According to Wilson, the positive community response to the "Secret Level" episode made it possible to launch a full-scale project, an endeavor to tell a long-form story he had dreamed of for over 20 years.

This announcement complements the expansion of Amazon's gaming adaptation lineup. Beyond "Secret Level" and the "Fallout" series, the streamer is working on a number of other screen adaptations:
