Battlefield 6 receives patch 1.1.3.5 with major changes to aviation and close combat

Battlefield 6 has received update 1.1.3.5, which focuses on polishing key mechanics just a few weeks before the launch of the second season. The patch addresses issues with inconsistent melee combat and overly powerful jet cannons.

After weeks of community feedback regarding sluggish aerial aiming and incorrect hit registration in close combat, EA released a targeted hotfix designed to make gameplay sharper and more dynamic. If you’ve been waiting for air duels to become dangerous and tense again, update 1.1.3.5 is exactly what players were hoping for, and it became available on January 20.

Battlefield Studios has finally tackled the melee combat mechanics that had long disrupted close-quarters engagements in BF6. The update significantly increases melee attack speed and improves hit registration for knives and sledgehammers, both against enemies and the environment.

A key change is the rework of the “sprint interrupt” logic. Previously, attempting a melee attack would instantly cancel sprinting. Now sprinting is interrupted only at the moment the attack actually makes contact with the target. This makes melee combat feel smoother and allows for aggressive attacks on the move without the sensation of losing control. A strange bug was also fixed where vehicles could explode if a finishing move was performed on an enemy lying on top of them.

Changes were also made to aerial combat. The skies over Battlefield 6 are gradually turning into a true arena for air-to-air dogfights rather than one-sided slaughter. In update 1.1.3.5, the damage of jet cannons against other air targets has been reduced by approximately 40 percent.

This significant nerf forces pilots to rely on accuracy rather than quick bursts. Air battles now last longer, giving infantry more time to maneuver without constant pressure from above.

With the second season delayed until February, now is a good time to return to the game and level up weapons ahead of the formation of a new meta. Additionally, significant discounts are currently available on the Standard and Phantom editions across various platforms.

Update 1.1.3.5 does not add new content but serves as a stabilizing step. Improvements to melee fluidity and the rebalancing of aerial combat show that the developers are listening to key player feedback. Waiting for the second season may be painful, but this patch lays a solid foundation for future changes.
