Bigetron by Vitality defeated NAVI 4:3 in the MPL Indonesia Season 18 Grand Final and became the champions of Indonesia. The Ukrainian organization finished the tournament in second place, while Team Liquid ID took third place. All three teams had a strong season, but only NAVI and Bigetron earned the right to represent Indonesia at the M8 World Championship.
NAVI fell one step short of the championship
For NAVI, this season was the most successful in the organization's MPL Indonesia history. The team finished the regular season in second place with a record of 12 wins and 4 losses, losing out to Team Liquid ID only on tiebreakers. This allowed NAVI to start the playoffs directly from the second round.
In the playoffs, NAVI first defeated Alter Ego — 3:1, and then defeated Team Liquid ID — 3:2 in the upper-bracket final. Thanks to this victory, the team not only reached their first MPL Indonesia Grand Final but also secured a spot at M8.
In the final against Bigetron, NAVI once again played an extremely close series. The teams went all the way to the seventh game, where Bigetron secured the decisive 4:3 victory.
As a result, NAVI finished the tournament in second place and received approximately $54,000 in prize money. At the same time, the team's main achievement was securing a spot at the M8 World Championship.
Bigetron defended their title
Bigetron by Vitality became MPL Indonesia champions for the second consecutive time. The team also won the league last season, and now had the opportunity to defend their title in the final against NAVI.
Bigetron's path to the decisive match was more difficult. The team lost to Team Liquid ID — 1:3 in the upper bracket, after which they dropped to the lower bracket.
There, Bigetron defeated Alter Ego — 3:2, and then faced Team Liquid ID again in the lower-bracket final. This time, the series went all seven games and ended with a 4:3 victory for Bigetron.
In the Grand Final, the team once again went all the way to the seventh game and defeated NAVI by the same score — 4:3.
Team Liquid ID — third place
Team Liquid ID finished MPL Indonesia Season 18 in third place.
The team won the regular season with a 12:4 record and the best map differential, finishing ahead of NAVI, who had the same number of wins and losses.
In the playoffs, Team Liquid ID first defeated Bigetron 3:1, but then lost to NAVI 2:3 in the upper-bracket final.
After that, the team received another chance to reach the Grand Final through the lower bracket, but Bigetron once again proved stronger — 4:3. As a result, Team Liquid ID finished the season in third place and missed out on a spot at M8.
How Indonesia's representatives performed at M7
Last year, ONIC and Alter Ego represented Indonesia at the M7 World Championship. Both teams received direct spots at the World Championship thanks to their results in MPL Indonesia Season 16.
Alter Ego had the best performance. The Indonesian team reached the M7 Grand Final, where they lost to Aurora Gaming PH and became world runners-up. As a result of the tournament, Alter Ego finished in second place.
ONIC ended their run much earlier. The team advanced to the Swiss Stage but failed to reach the playoffs. As a result, ONIC shared 7th–8th place at M7.
Thus, last year Indonesia had one finalist and one team that finished the tournament at the Swiss Stage.
NAVI and Bigetron will represent Indonesia at M8
At the M8 World Championship, Indonesia will have two different representatives — NAVI and Bigetron by Vitality.
NAVI became the first team to secure their spot after defeating Team Liquid ID in the upper-bracket final. Bigetron earned the second spot after defeating Team Liquid ID in the lower-bracket final.
For NAVI, this will be their M8 debut after their historic first appearance in the MPL Indonesia Grand Final. For Bigetron, the upcoming tournament will be an opportunity to continue their successful run after winning their second consecutive Indonesian championship.
Thus, Indonesia's representatives at M8 will look completely different from M7: NAVI and Bigetron will replace last year's finalists Alter Ego and ONIC.
Indonesia will once again compete for the title
M7 showed that Indonesia remains one of the strongest regions on the global MLBB scene. Alter Ego reached the final, while ONIC also qualified for the World Championship.
Now the region will have a new pair of representatives. NAVI and Bigetron have already met in the MPL Indonesia Season 18 final, and their next goal will be the M8 World Championship.
For NAVI, this will be an opportunity to take the next step after winning silver in Indonesia, while Bigetron will try to carry their domestic dominance onto the international stage.
The M8 World Championship will take place from January 3 to 23, 2027, in Turkey. The total prize pool will be $1 million.
