The Esports World Cup Foundation has revealed the format, schedule, prize pool, and qualification path for this year’s Call of Duty Black Ops 7 tournament.
The tournament, which will take place in Riyadh in August, will feature a prize pool of $1.8 million. The event will be held just a few weeks after this year’s COD Champs, where a similar amount of prize money will be up for grabs.
The competition will run from August 5 to August 9. A total of 16 of the world’s best teams will participate, initially competing in a group stage to secure spots in the playoffs.
Tournament format:
Group Stage:
- 16 teams (divided into two groups)
- Double-elimination bracket
- Matches played in a Best-of-5 format
- The top four teams from each group advance to the playoffs
Playoffs:
- 8 teams
- Single-elimination bracket
- Matches played in a Best-of-7 format
- The Grand Final will be played as a Best-of-9
Qualification path for the Esports World Cup (Call of Duty):
- 1 slot reserved for OpTic as the reigning champions
- 11 slots allocated to organizations from the Call of Duty League
- 3 slots decided through the Call of Duty Challengers Finals
- 1 slot reserved for the winner of the Last Chance Qualifier
