BLAST Bounty Finals to Run on Old CS2 Patch, ESL Moves to New Version

The final stage of BLAST Bounty, starting today, will take place on the old game patch — the same version used during the online stage. This was confirmed by HLTV. As a result, the LAN finals will feature the old version of the Anubis map, which was the least popular map during the online stage.

The latest CS2 update, released by Valve on Wednesday, reintroduced Anubis into the Active Duty Map Pool with several changes, adjusted jumping mechanics, and buffed the MP7 and MP5-SD. However, BLAST has decided not to apply the new patch for their LAN tournament.

Meanwhile, ESL announced that all matches, including the closed qualifiers for IEM Rio, will be played on the latest patch, which also brought changes to Anubis, weapons, jumping, sound, and other mechanics.

The first top-tier LAN tournament to use the new patch will be IEM Kraków, starting on January 28. Fans will have to wait until Poland to see the fully updated version of CS2 in a major tournament.

As a reminder, Counter-Strike 2 has entered its fourth Premier season and received a major update.
