Blizzard Entertainment has announced a collaboration between Overwatch and the popular Japanese music duo YOASOBI. The collaboration was officially presented during a special event in Tokyo attended by both the game’s developers and the musicians.
The large-scale in-game event will begin on July 1 and will allow players to experience YOASOBI’s signature emotional storytelling and music directly inside the game.
As part of the crossover, fans can expect the following content updates:
- Themed rewards: new cosmetic items, including special skins for popular heroes Kiriko, Genji, and Hanzo.
- Story expansion: a new short story focused on Genji’s journey to Tokyo and his childhood memories involving Hanzo and Kiriko.
- New music: the release of the song “Orion,” directly inspired by Genji’s storyline.
The track “Orion” will also be included in a special Overwatch edition of YOASOBI’s final album from the iconic “THE BOOK” series. The album is scheduled for release on June 26.
