Blizzard opens a new chapter. Anniversary video excites fans of Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft

In 2026 Blizzard Entertainment will celebrate its 35th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the iconic studio released a stylish video that looks back on its legacy while teasing ambitious plans for the future.

The video focuses on the workspaces of Blizzard’s game designers. Viewers are shown computers and period specific items from different eras, the very tools used to create the studio’s most famous franchises. These include Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, World of Warcraft with its many expansions, Hearthstone and Overwatch.

The creators emphasize that all of these games were «crafted with a mastery that cannot be faked by artificial means», clearly hinting that generative AI cannot replace talent, creativity and genuine passion for game development.

In the final scene, an abstract Blizzard developer picks up a ballpoint pen and hovers it over a blank sheet of paper, symbolically opening that very «new chapter of Blizzard».

The video description also reveals the schedule of upcoming showcases:

All signs point to an eventful new chapter for Blizzard. The studio continues its ambitious support plan for World of Warcraft, Diablo IV is expected to receive its second expansion, Overwatch 2 keeps getting major updates, and according to rumors a shooter set in the StarCraft universe could be revealed as early as September.
