Development on remakes for Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 is not currently underway. While speculation reignited following comments from executive producer Jun Takeuchi regarding the remake series catching up with the era of numbered titles, insider reports have pushed back against those claims.
According to prominent insider Dusk Golem, who has a proven track record with the franchise, Capcom greenlit several new Resident Evil projects a few months ago, but RE5 was not among them. He noted that all development teams are fully occupied with other titles, making a release for an RE5 or RE6 remake unlikely within at least the next five years.
Instead, Capcom appears to be prioritizing spin-offs and earlier main-line entries. Following the previously announced Code Veronica remake, the next games in line for remakes are reportedly Resident Evil 0 and the original Resident Evil.
Additionally, Dusk Golem shared further details on the roadmap for the series:
- Full development on Resident Evil 10 is in full swing, with a target release window set for 2029.
- Story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem is planned to launch following the release of the Code Veronica remake.
As a Reminder: 007 First Light Gets Its First Free DLC Featuring New Missions and Weapons.
