Esports organization G2 Esports has officially announced the termination of its partnership with League of Legends Head Coach Dylan Falco. The departure, announced on August 31, concludes the Canadian coach's nearly five-year era, which began in December 2021.
The decision to move Falco to the inactive roster was made on July 10, shortly after G2's elimination from the Mid-Season Invitational following a loss to LYON. Luka "Perkz" Perković has become the new head of the coaching staff. Team manager Romain Bigeard emphasized that the replacement is a strategic move. Despite acknowledging Dylan as the "GOAT western coach," management believes Perkz's leadership is a better fit for the long-term needs of the current roster.
This move came as a surprise to the community, as Falco's contract with the organization ran until 2027. Under his leadership, G2 returned to the top of the regional and international scene, achieving a series of remarkable results:
- 11 LEC Championship titles.
- Three MSI semi-final appearances.
- Runner-up finish at the First Stand 2026 international tournament.
Currently, Dylan Falco's next destination remains unknown. Given his previous experience, notably guiding Fnatic to the 2018 World Championship final and his three-year stint at FC Schalke 04, he is expected to be a highly sought-after specialist ahead of the 2027 LEC season.
Meanwhile, the revamped G2 Esports roster continues to compete. The team advanced to the LEC 2026 Summer Split Playoffs with a 6-3 record in the regular season. In the Upper Bracket Semi-finals, G2 will face Team Vitality, aiming to secure a top-three finish in the tournament and qualify for Worlds 2026.
