Call of Duty developers have continued the successful tradition of recent years by bringing the classic Prestige system back to Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer. Despite some changes to the Prestige mechanics this year, the principles for unlocking new icons remain familiar to longtime fans of the series.
Players gain access to Prestige after reaching level 55. Upon entering a new Prestige, their level is reset, while the player receives exclusive rewards and a new icon displayed next to their username.
Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer features a total of 10 standard Prestige icons, as well as a separate icon for Prestige Master.
Visually, the new icons differ from those seen in previous entries in the franchise, but they contain numerous references for Call of Duty veterans, paying tribute to games developed by Infinity Ward:
- Prestige 5: features the silhouette of a soldier from the original Modern Warfare 3 (2011).
- Prestige 6: features the Call of Duty: Ghosts logo.
- Prestige 7: uses imagery from Infinite Warfare.
- Prestige 10: features the signature digital “4” symbol from Modern Warfare 4.
The biggest new addition this year is the animated Prestige icons. The golden figures at the center of each badge feature unique animations that can be seen directly in the game. This sets MW4 apart from Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7, where the icons remained static.
As a reminder, Chandler Riggs wants to adapt Resident Evil 7 and 8 into a two-season TV series.
