Discord has officially announced that starting in March 2026 it will begin the global rollout of an age-verification system. The platform will automatically assign all accounts a “teen” status until users complete verification and prove that they are adults.
Users who do not pass adult verification will lose access to servers and channels with age restrictions. Even if you are already a member of such a server, its content will be blocked.
Unverified users will not be able to speak in Stage channels and will see filters applied to any content that Discord identifies as sensitive or explicit. Privacy settings will be strengthened for teen accounts.
Discord offers two main ways to confirm adulthood through its partners:
- Facial age estimation: Using AI to analyze a video selfie. Discord claims that this data is processed locally on the device and is not stored on the company’s servers.
- Identity document verification: Uploading a photo of an official document (passport or driver’s license).
As a reminder, IEM Kraków 2026 became the most popular non-major tournament in the history of Counter-Strike.
