According to estimates from Alinea Analytics, EA Sports FC 27 has sold 7.9 million copies across PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam in less than three weeks, generating $714.1 million in revenue. This makes the football simulator the highest earning new release of 2026.
PlayStation accounts for the majority of sales at 77.1%, followed by Xbox at 15.9% and Steam at 7%.
Around $86.4 million, or 12.1% of FC 27’s total revenue, comes from in game purchases and microtransactions.
The game has outperformed Resident Evil Requiem and Forza Horizon 6, which generated $558 million and $534 million respectively.
Despite lower figures on Xbox and Steam, FC 27’s strong performance on PlayStation has allowed it to remain 14% ahead of FC 26 year over year across the three platforms. PS5 revenue jumped from $323.6 million for FC 26 to $506.7 million for FC 27, while PS4 revenue fell from $146.1 million to $67.2 million.
Alinea Analytics attributes part of the PS5 growth to casual players upgrading from PS4 ahead of GTA 6’s November release. Meanwhile, Xbox One performed considerably worse, while Steam remains a secondary platform for football and other sports games.
Overall, consoles account for 93% of all copies sold for this year’s highest earning new release, which once again highlights how exaggerated the “death of consoles” narrative can be.
