EXCLUSIVE: cadiaN about Heroic’s comeback on Vertigo: «In the heart I realized that this is maybe my last game in the Heroic jersey»

Heroic's captain, Casper cadiaN Møller, talked with Players Editor-In-Chief Alex Kharchenko. In the interview, the Dane talked about comeback on Vertigo, his emotions, the crucial match against Astralis at the BLAST Premier Fall Finalі 2023 and the role of Peter dupreeh Rothmann in the team.

First of all congrats, amazing game!

Thank you!

You won 13 rounds in a row during the first map, what was that? Was it because you were knifed in the first round or because you waited for 2.5 hours in the arena to play the match?

You know, in the heart I realized that this is maybe my last game in the Heroic jersey. I was super emotional. I think I was a little bit shaky in the beginning of the CT-side,  l didn’t always know what to make of myself. It was super tough. We had a bad start, 0:8. But that's also me, right. That's a description of my career - from very lows and it looks like you are never coming back. But I will and we will as a team. That's a mental fortitude that are required from the team of my caliber. I'm so proud of that. It was great to comeback, especially in the new format. I'm very proud of the boys.

Was it a derby for you, taking into account that you played against Astralis?

Yeah, there's also a lot of rivalry in the history between the organization and the players and also with the current rumors that's even more drama. I think the game would have a higher influence if it was about getting into the arena. We need to win one more. It feels good to deny them a chance but it does matter if we play in the arena.

You have a great teammate, dupreeh. What's his role in the team?

He has great experience, five majors and he played on a top level for so long. He's super good, good ideas, know how to set up teammates, know how to set up himself. One of the biggest bonuses to play this last dance tournament is to know dupreeh even better. I personally know him for many years but haven't played with him. That's great.

So you are happy that you have dupreeh onboard?

Yes, very happy. I also think that some people are counting him out and maybe he's retiring soon. I think in the way he's performing and the new game, and his energy, he's far from done.

You are quite an emotional person. How is playing at home for you? What does it mean for you and the team?

I would love it. To play in front of the home crowd and have the stage intro when they are lifting you up. It will mean a lot for me. That's still one more game to go.

Why are playing in hoodie all the time? Is it a ritual, maybe you are cold or something else?

Everyone is asking, even my teammates. They know but dupreeh is asking if I play with a hoodie.

Maybe you love the merchandise of Heroic?

Yes I love the merchandise but for me I feel comfortable, I feel calm. When I have it on, it reminds me when I'm sitting at home, just playing, relaxing. That's it. I think if it's too hot I will take it off but I try to keep it on for as long as possible. It's been a ritual for me.
