The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched an investigation into fake games on Steam that contained viruses.
Anyone who installed or played certain games between 2024 and 2026 may have become a victim of attackers. The FBI is asking such users to come forward to assist the investigation, guaranteeing full confidentiality. The Bureau asks victims to fill out the “Seeking Victim Information” form on its official website.
The list of dangerous titles includes:
- Chemia
- Dashverse / DashFPS
- Lampy
- Lunara
- PirateFi
- Tokenova
- BlockBasters
Most of these games were stealing user data and compromising their accounts. The most high-profile case is connected with BlockBasters, which last year led to a streamer losing $32,000 that had been donated for cancer treatment.
Almost all of these games are linked to crypto scams. After launch, they attempt to drain the user’s crypto wallets. Since many people stay logged in to different websites in their browsers, automated attacks can easily gain access to those resources. In addition to financial losses, Steam accounts are also at risk — users may completely lose access to their game libraries.
