In the city of Wood River, preparations are underway for the large-scale Hollywood River Studios project (also known as Wood River Film Studios) — a major film and digital media production campus located on approximately 105 acres of the former Envirotech Business Park.
The development is being led by Pittsburgh-based entrepreneur Chris Breakwell through Wood River Farm Investments LLC.
As of May 2026, the total project budget is estimated at around $95 million, significantly higher than the initial $60 million projection. The campus will include up to six modular sound stages, office and warehouse facilities, production infrastructure, a hotel, and extensive parking areas. Construction is expected to begin in autumn 2026, while the first production facilities could be completed within six months after work starts.
One of the key features of the complex will be a dedicated 12,000-square-foot esports arena. It is expected to be integrated into the studio ecosystem and support both entertainment and educational initiatives, including cooperation with East Alton-Wood River High School. The arena will feature modern infrastructure designed for esports events and activities.
