Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Becomes the Biggest Nintendo Switch 2 Game

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on June 3, and the game has already broken a record before release. Square Enix’s RPG is officially the largest Nintendo Switch 2 title in terms of file size.

According to the Japanese My Nintendo Store listing, the game requires 102.5 GB of storage. Meanwhile, the European Nintendo website lists the size as 91.5 GB, though this may not include a potential day-one patch. Even so, the game surpasses Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (90.4 GB), Split Fiction (71 GB), and Cyberpunk 2077 Special Edition (60 GB).

The physical Switch 2 release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will come as a Game Key Card, meaning players will need to download the full game digitally in order to play. In comparison, CD Projekt RED previously tried to fit the complete version of Cyberpunk 2077 onto the retail cartridge.

Besides the upcoming release on new platforms, fans of the franchise may also have more announcements to look forward to. Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is rumored to appear during upcoming showcases, while Tifa is reportedly being considered for the Street Fighter 6 Season 4 roster.
