The first look at the characters from the iconic animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender in the new animated film The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender has appeared online. In the images, fans saw adult versions of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko for the first time. The events of the film take place several years after the end of the original series: Team Avatar has grown up and is trying to maintain peace in the world after the defeat of the Fire Nation.
The film will become the first major project of Avatar Studios, a studio created by the franchise’s original creators. In the new story, Aang learns about an ancient power that could save the culture of the Air Nomads from disappearing, and together with his friends sets out on a dangerous journey to find it before their enemies do. The film is currently scheduled to premiere on October 9, 2026 on Paramount+, although it was originally planned for a theatrical release.
