During Anime Expo, the first promotional posters and new visual materials for the upcoming anime adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the multiplayer mode of Sucker Punch Productions' Ghost of Tsushima, were officially unveiled. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
The adaptation is directed by Takanobu Mizuno, best known for directing The Duel episode of Star Wars: Visions. Animation is being produced by Kamikaze Douga, while acclaimed writer Gen Urobuchi is handling the story composition and co-writing the script alongside Renji Oki. The project is being developed in collaboration with Aniplex, with Sony Music serving as the production partner for the series' music and soundtrack.
The story takes viewers to 1274, when the Mongol Empire invades the Japanese island of Tsushima, bringing devastation and conquering its people. One of the last surviving samurai is forced to abandon the traditional code of honorable combat and forge the path of the Ghost, embracing unconventional warfare in the fight to liberate his homeland.
Earlier, Sony confirmed that PlayStation will allow publishers to continue producing physical copies of previously released games after January 2028.
