Fortnitemares 2026 has added a variety of new features to Fortnite, from crossover content and powerful bosses to fresh Sprite variants. Among the latest additions is the Vampire Sprite, a collectible companion that converts part of the damage dealt to enemies into Health and Shield. Players looking to add it to their collection will need to know where it spawns, how to obtain its different versions, and how to improve its abilities.
Where to Find the Vampire Sprite in Fortnite
Finding a Vampire Sprite can take some time, as it is not a guaranteed drop. Players can discover one in regular Chests, Pumpkin Chests, or through Cheat Codes. However, smashing pumpkins found around the island is another option worth trying, as they can occasionally reward players with this elusive Sprite.
Hunting Fortnitemares bosses is also a promising strategy. The Vampire Sprite appears to drop more frequently from defeated event bosses, particularly the animatronic characters from Five Nights at Freddy’s. This makes Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria a useful destination for players searching for one.
Several alternative versions are available, including the Cheat Master Vampire Sprite. These variants share similar acquisition methods, but Legendary Cheat Codes reportedly provide better odds of obtaining them.
The Bounty Hunter Vampire Sprite has an additional requirement. Players can receive it from eliminations only when they already have a different Bounty Hunter Sprite equipped.

Trading with other players is another option, and it remains one of the most dependable ways to finish collecting every variant.
What Does the Vampire Sprite Do in Fortnite?
The Vampire Sprite offers a combat-focused ability similar to the Demon Sprite featured in Fortnite Runners. Rather than providing a direct offensive attack, it helps players sustain themselves during fights by recovering Health and Shield as they damage opponents.
Once equipped, the Sprite returns a portion of the damage dealt to enemies as Health and Shield. Its effectiveness improves with each level, eventually reaching a 50% damage siphon rate at Level 5. This means that, at its maximum level, the Sprite can return an amount equivalent to half the damage dealt, split between Health and Shield according to the game's mechanics.
The ability is also expected to function against NPC enemies, including the guards protecting Override Cartridges, giving players additional opportunities to benefit from the effect.
How to Level Up the Vampire Sprite
Upgrading the Vampire Sprite generally follows Fortnite's regular Sprite XP progression system. Players can earn experience and gradually improve its effectiveness as they continue playing.
The Bounty Hunter Vampire Sprite is the exception. Unlike the other versions, it gains Sprite XP exclusively from eliminations, and NPCs count toward this requirement as well.
Players should also take advantage of Mastery Mondays, when Sprite XP gains are doubled. This bonus makes Monday an especially good opportunity to level up Sprites faster and unlock their strongest effects.
