Eetu "sAw" Saha, head coach of the G2 Esports CS2 roster, summarized the team's performance at the BLAST Open Porto 2026 tournament. In the quarterfinals, the squad lost to Team Falcons with a score of 0:2, finishing the competition in 5th–6th place and earning $75,000 in prize money. Despite the crushing defeat in the final match, the coach sees positive trends in the team's development.
Analyzing the match against Team Falcons, sAw noted that the team's main problem was poor starts on both maps. On Inferno, the G2 players felt quite good at the beginning, but closer to the end of their T-side, they lost patience, started rushing, and made mistakes, which led to losing the first half. A similar situation with a sloppy start, but this time on the CT-side, repeated itself on Dust2. Because of these failures, the team had to spend too much effort trying to come back in the second halves of the maps. Aside from their own mistakes, the coach also noted the high individual performance level of their opponents.
Commenting on the possible psychological pressure on the players, the coach admitted that the team is tired of losing to top squads and is eager to play on equal footing and successfully close out matches. At the same time, he emphasized that G2 only started consistently reaching the playoff stages at the end of last season, so the current results are a logical and positive step in the roster's formation.
Overall, sAw evaluated their performance at the Portuguese event as a step in the right direction. The team was able to accomplish most of the internal goals they had set for themselves before the start of the competition. Although the last game left a bitter aftertaste, G2 Esports now plans to thoroughly analyze their mistakes, consolidate the achieved progress, and focus on preparing for the upcoming tournaments.
