Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have announced a new edition, a story expansion and a major update for Ghost of Yōtei. The game's post launch support follows a path similar to Ghost of Tsushima, although this time the developers are calling the new release a Complete Edition rather than a Director's Cut.
The biggest addition is the story expansion Echoes of Sekigahara, which will send Atsu on another dangerous journey. The story will move between the present day and memories of Atsu's past.
«Echoes of Sekigahara is our new story expansion. In it, you will meet Nagato, a character from Atsu’s past who has arrived in Ezo. The DLC takes place both in the present and in Atsu’s memories of the time she spent away from the island. In the present, you will explore a previously unseen valley where the Serpent and his loyal followers, the Vipers, once lived. In the past, you will experience Atsu during the Battle of Sekigahara and learn about a key moment in her life before she returned home to seek revenge. You will face new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets, dyes, and much more», — said Sucker Punch Productions.
Echoes of Sekigahara will launch on October 1. The expansion will cost $15 separately, while it will also be included in the $70 Complete Edition.
Ghost of Yōtei is also getting Most Wanted, a new roguelike mode focused on challenging combat. Atsu will not be the only playable character, as players will be able to unlock additional characters for future runs.
In the single player mode, players will defeat enemies, earn rewards and collect bonuses that can help them during subsequent runs. Sucker Punch says more details will be revealed soon, but today's trailer already shows Atsu wielding two new weapons: Oyuki's kusarigama and Nagato's yari.
The update will also introduce additional trophies, new music tracks, cosmetic items and expanded photo mode features.
Another addition is the Beauty of Yotei mode, which will showcase the changing landscapes of Ezo Island in a relaxing presentation that essentially works like a collection of animated scenic screensavers.
Ghost of Yōtei is currently exclusive to PlayStation 5. There is no word on a PC version at this time.
As a Reminder, Metro: Exodus, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Vampire Survivors join the August PlayStation Plus lineup.
