THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive have released the major 1.0.2 update for Gothic 1 Remake. The updated version of the classic RPG launched on June 5 and sold 500,000 copies within its first week. While critics had a mixed reaction to the remake, players praised the Spanish developers for modernizing the iconic 2001 German RPG.
The biggest addition in the new patch is the introduction of graphics modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Players can now choose between the “Quality” mode, which delivers 4K resolution at 30 FPS, and the “Performance” mode, which targets 60 FPS with a slightly reduced resolution.
The update also fixes numerous issues across all platforms. Developers addressed bugs that could prevent players from completing certain quests, with some problems even stopping overall progress through the game.
Alongside technical improvements, the team adjusted the game’s balance. Some inhabitants of the Valley of Mines, who were already capable of defeating the Nameless Hero in one or two hits, have become even stronger. As a result, Gothic 1 Remake now offers an even more challenging experience for players looking for a hardcore adventure.
However, players who choose the path of magic will have an easier time dealing with the new threats. Several spells, including “Fire Rain,” “Chain Lightning,” and “Ice Block,” now deal more damage, while healing spells restore the protagonist’s health more effectively.
The full list of changes included in patch 1.0.2 can be found on the Gothic 1 Remake Steam page.
As a Reminder, Ubisoft Co-Founder Claude Guillemot Dies in Plane Crash in France.
