Microsoft unveiled a new action-packed trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved during the Xbox Games Showcase, offering a fresh look at the remake of the iconic 2001 Halo campaign originally created by Bungie.
One of the biggest reveals was the addition of three brand-new missions that were not part of the original release. These chapters will serve as a prequel and explore events that take place before the beginning of Halo's main storyline.
In the new campaign content, Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson take part in «Operation METEORITE», which unfolds one year before the events of the first Halo. After secretly boarding a Covenant vessel, the duo encounters fierce alien resistance and must take extreme measures to complete their objective.
While the core Halo gameplay remains intact, Campaign Evolved features significantly upgraded visuals, faster-paced combat, and an expanded weapon roster that includes equipment from later entries in the franchise. Multiplayer has been removed, but the campaign supports four-player co-op.
The trailer also confirmed the release date. Halo: Campaign Evolved launches on July 28, 2026 for PC and Xbox Series consoles. For the first time in franchise history, the game will also arrive on PlayStation and will be available through Game Pass on day one.
