Helldivers 2 has received the major Devoid of Liberty update, introducing a dangerous new region known as the Void. Helldivers will now venture into the mysterious area on reconnaissance missions while facing new threats and completing a range of new objectives.
The Void features new missions focused on destroying Illuminate spires and gateways, gathering intelligence, and infiltrating Illuminate structures. Players will also receive additional objectives, including eliminating Void mutations and extracting materials for research. Some maps will offer a secondary extraction zone, giving squads a chance to evacuate more quickly.
The update also introduces new mutated enemies. The Wretch is a fast and agile creature capable of overwhelming weaker fighters and dodging counterattacks, while the Crusher can withstand heavy damage and regenerate during combat.
The maximum rank has been increased from 150 to 300, with new rank titles also added. SEAF platoons can now assist Helldivers on Void planets, arriving aboard dropships and fighting alongside squads while providing medical support with stims.
At the same time as the Devoid of Liberty launch, Sony Interactive Entertainment has added Helldivers 2 to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Starting today, the game is available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.
The community has also received a collective challenge. Players must eliminate 500 million enemies by August 18 to unlock four Helldiver PlayStation avatars.
As a Remidner, Alan Wake 2 surpasses 3 million copies sold as Control Resonant gains momentum.
