At CinemaCon 2026, director Justin Lin confirmed that preparation for the Helldivers movie will begin within the next two weeks. According to him, the project officially enters pre-production this month.
So far, Jason Momoa is confirmed as part of the cast, taking on a leading role. No further details about additional actors or the story have been revealed yet.
The Helldivers feature film was originally announced by Sony back in January 2025, with a release date set for November 10, 2027.
Creators emphasize that the project is no longer a “what-if,” but a real production now gaining momentum in the industry. The pairing of Lin and Momoa is seen as a strong match for bringing the game’s high-energy action and satirical tone to the big screen.
Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 continues to surge in popularity. The game has reached 20 million copies sold, boosted by its Xbox release last year. The movie announcement has also sparked renewed interest, bringing back veteran players and attracting newcomers eager to explore the universe before the film’s debut.
As a Reminder, Gamers choose Red Dead Redemption 2 as the greatest game ever.
