Warner Bros. Discovery has officially confirmed that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is in development. The company mentioned the second installment in a recent shareholder letter, naming it among the upcoming projects expected to help expand its gaming business.
The original Hogwarts Legacy became a major commercial success, selling more than 40 million copies worldwide. Warner Bros. Discovery now expects its sequel to play a role in strengthening the profitability of its games division.
«Games remains an important growth lever as we work toward our long-term Studios segment goals», «We expect Games to more meaningfully contribute to segment profitability going forward as our pipeline expands, including the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy», — the company stated in its August shareholder letter.
Warner Bros. Discovery also revealed plans to reduce the size of its gaming slate, focusing on around four major franchises and fewer, larger bets. The success of Hogwarts Legacy appears to be one of the reasons behind this strategy.
The original game became the highest grossing title of 2023 and attracted a huge player base. Its sequel now faces significant expectations from fans who have spent years following job listings and looking for clues about Avalanche Software’s next project.
However, Warner Bros. Discovery has not revealed a release date, platforms or gameplay details for Hogwarts Legacy 2. More information will have to wait until the publisher and Avalanche Software are ready to reveal what comes next for the wizarding world.
As a Reminder, Ghost of Yōtei is getting Echoes of Sekigahara DLC, a roguelike mode and Complete Edition.
