Goldenwood is a special resource in Hytale that players need in order to upgrade the Farmer’s Workbench to Tier 8. Unlike common wood types, Goldenwood does not drop from most trees, so players must actively search for specific sources to collect it.
★ If you plan to focus on farming and want access to the most advanced crafting recipes, fully upgrading the Farmer’s Workbench is essential. The final tiers unlock powerful options that significantly expand gameplay possibilities.
Ways to Get Goldenwood Logs in Hytale
There are only two materials in the game that count as Goldenwood Logs. These are Sallow Logs and Palm Tree Logs, each obtained in a different way.
Sallow Logs come directly from cutting down Sallow trees, while Palm Tree Logs cannot be harvested from trees at all and instead appear exclusively as chest rewards.
Sallow Logs
Sallow trees are uncommon and easy to recognize thanks to their pale yellow foliage. They grow in the Cinder Wastes biome, which is located within the Devastated Lands of Zone 4. When checking the world map, players should look for yellow tinted areas surrounded by the dark terrain typical of the Devastated Lands. In these regions, light yellow treetops signal the presence of Sallow trees.
Using a hatchet to chop down these trees grants Sallow Logs. These logs are treated as Goldenwood and can be used to complete the Tier 8 upgrade for the Farmer’s Workbench.
★ Because Hytale uses procedural world generation, not every Devastated Lands area will include a Cinder Wastes biome. If you do not find it in one zone, you will need to continue exploring until you encounter a suitable location.
Palm Tree Logs
Palm Tree Logs are found only inside chests scattered throughout the Howling Sands desert in Zone 2. The highest chances of locating these chests are in enemy controlled structures, abandoned mineshafts, and other populated desert locations.
★ Exploring these areas can be dangerous, so players are strongly advised to bring enough healing items before engaging hostile enemies.
★ An important detail to note is that palm trees growing naturally in the world do not drop Palm Tree Logs when cut down. Instead, they break into basic sticks. Whether this behavior is intentional or a bug has not been clarified, but for now, looting chests remains the only reliable method of obtaining Palm Tree Logs.
