Hryhorovych: “In the next Cossacks, I want to add drones”

The founder of GSC Game World and creator of the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, Serhii Hryhorovych, gave an interview to entrepreneur and serviceman Andrii Onistrat. During the conversation, he said he plans to create a new installment of Cossacks and include drones in it.

“For example, in the next Cossacks—yes, I will be making another one—I want to add drones. How would I do drones? Where are the Cossacks, the 17th century, and where are drones? They’ll be pigeons. The first drones in history were used by Princess Olga—she took revenge on the Pechenegs for her husband. She sent pigeons, and those were the first drones.”

He also shared that he wants to create a film adaptation of Cossacks. According to Hryhorovych, he already knows who will direct the film and who will help write the script.

Additionally, Hryhorovych revealed that, at the time of recording the interview, he had not yet received any money from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl:

“Right now I have a small cash gap, but I’m rebuilding and getting back to full scale… Very large funds from the second S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will come again. So far, I haven’t received a single penny. I don’t want to talk about it.”

He also discussed how the development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was financed:

“Maxim Krippa spent much more than I did, because the monthly costs kept growing and I couldn’t keep up. I sold all my gold, I had an entire floor of apartments—that was all sold too, it wasn’t enough. Then I turned to various funds. The last one I approached was Dragon Capital. They probably hired a general manager from ‘tanks.’”

As a reminder, the first full look at Link from the upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie has recently been revealed.
