The International Esports Federation has announced that the World Esports Championship 2026 will take place in Indonesia from December 15 to 20, 2026. This marks the third time the country will host the World Championship, following the 2016 and 2022 tournaments.
WEC26 is expected to bring together over 500 athletes from more than 110 national federations. Participants will compete for their national teams, representing their countries on the international stage.
The championship program will feature five titles across seven competitive categories:
- Counter-Strike 2 — Open and Women;
- Dota 2;
- Mobile Legends: Bang Bang — Open and Women;
- PUBG Mobile;
- eFootball.
For some titles, the participant lineup was determined through previous qualification cycles. Specifically, CS2, Dota 2, and PUBG Mobile will use qualification results from WEC25, while eFootball relies on WEC24 qualifiers. In MLBB, team qualification will be determined according to the IESF ranking system.
Alongside the main program, organizers plan to host additional invitational competitions, with further details to be announced later.
Indonesia previously hosted WEC in 2016 and 2022. In 2022, the tournament was held in Bali. Now, the championship returns to the country four years later.
During WEC26, the IESF Ordinary General Meeting will also take place, expected to gather representatives from 152 national federations.
At present, the IESF has not yet revealed the exact city and venue, full schedule, or slot allocation per country. These details are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
