The film is scheduled for release in November 2027.
Jason Momoa is set to headline the upcoming Helldivers movie from PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures. The project is based on the video game franchise developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. Justin Lin will direct, with the theatrical premiere slated for November 10, 2027.
The original game launched in 2015, while its sequel Helldivers 2 sold more than 12 million copies across PS5 and PC within the first four months following its 2024 debut. The title has recently expanded to Xbox and continues to perform strongly.
Helldivers 2 follows an elite squad of soldiers known as the Helldivers as they fight alien forces threatening the fictional planet Super Earth. The film is being produced by Hutch Parker alongside PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash, with Lin producing through his company Perfect Storm Entertainment.
Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions previously teamed up on Uncharted starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, which grossed $407 million worldwide and ranks among the top ten highest grossing video game adaptations. Their collaborations also include Peacock’s Twisted Metal and the award winning HBO series The Last of Us.
It was recently confirmed that Momoa will portray the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, arriving in theaters on June 26. He currently stars opposite Dave Bautista in The Wrecking Crew for Prime Video and will appear alongside Ryan Reynolds in the hybrid animated film Animal Friends on May 1. Additionally, Momoa is set to play Blanka in Street Fighter releasing October 16 and will reprise his role as Duncan Idaho in Dune: Part Three on December 18.
At this time, Helldivers stands as the only major studio wide release scheduled for November 10, 2027.
