The International Betting Integrity Association has reported an increase in alerts related to suspicious betting activity in esports during the first three months of 2026. According to the report, 70 suspicious incidents were recorded in total, of which 15 (22%) were in esports. Only football (25) and tennis (16) had more cases.
This marks a significant increase compared to the same period last year, when only four alerts were recorded in esports. Across all sports, 63 suspicious betting alerts were reported in the first quarter of 2025.
Most other sports saw a decline in such cases. For example, in table tennis, the number dropped from 21 incidents in 2023 to just 7 in 2025.
It remains unclear how many cases go undetected, and an increase in incidents flagged by monitoring systems does not necessarily indicate an actual rise in match-fixing.
