Ukrainian studio 4A Games has delivered on its promise to reveal a special announcement that it previously described as something gamers “won't want to miss”. This time, however, the developers focused on the game's Collector's Edition rather than the game itself.
The main attraction of METRO 2039: Collector's Edition will be a full size wearable replica of the protagonist's helmet. The main character, Stranger, appears to have previously served with Sparta, a paramilitary organization that worked to maintain order among the survivors of the catastrophe.
Judging by the helmet's battered appearance, its owner has clearly been through plenty of battles. For buyers of the Collector's Edition, the replica could eventually become one of the standout pieces in their Metro collection.
4A Games and publisher Deep Silver have not revealed the price of METRO 2039: Collector's Edition yet. However, a price of around $300 would not be surprising, as premium editions featuring large physical collectibles often fall within that range.
The announcement also appears to have revealed another detail about the game's story. Stranger seemingly once served in Sparta under Hunter. Hunter later became obsessed with authoritarian rule, took control of Novoreich, and eventually became the main enemy of his former subordinate.
More information about the story is likely to emerge on August 25 during the opening ceremony of gamescom 2026. A new gameplay trailer for METRO 2039 is scheduled to be shown at the event.
METRO 2039 is currently expected to launch in February 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
