Microsoft lowers Xbox Game Pass prices but removes day-one Call of Duty releases

Microsoft has announced a major shift in its Game Pass subscription strategy. The company is officially reducing the price of the service, but at the same time changing how Call of Duty titles are added to the library.

After a sharp price increase in 2025, new Xbox leadership decided to make the service more accessible. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now cost $22.99 instead of $29.99 per month, while the PC tier price has been reduced from $16.49 to $13.99 per month.

The key trade-off behind the price drop is the removal of day-one releases for Call of Duty games. Instead, new entries in the franchise will be added to Game Pass only one year after their official launch.

Recall that Riot Games confirmed the return of Ascent to the VALORANT map pool.
