From September 29 to October 1, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament is taking place in Tokoname, Japan, as part of the 2026 Asian Games. This marks the discipline's historic debut as an official medal sport at the Asiad. Eleven national teams entered the race for the inaugural set of medals, while Iran's national team withdrew prior to the start of the tournament.
Participants were divided into four groups, competing in a single round-robin format. The top two teams from each group secured spots in the playoffs:
- Group A: Myanmar (2-0) and Hong Kong (1-1) advanced, while Uzbekistan (0-2) was eliminated.
- Group B: Malaysia (2-0) and Indonesia (1-1) reached the playoffs, while Saudi Arabia (0-2) exited the tournament.
- Group C: The Philippines (2-0) and Jordan (1-1) guaranteed their places in the quarterfinals, while Kazakhstan (0-2) was eliminated.
- Group D: Mongolia and Cambodia automatically qualified for the next round, as the group consisted of only two teams.
The Philippines, built around the core of Team Liquid PH, is considered the heavy favorite. Other strong contenders include representatives from Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Cambodia), a region with the most developed professional MLBB scene.
The playoff stage features a single-elimination format, with quarterfinals and semifinals scheduled for September 30. All knockout matches are played as best-of-three (Bo3) series, except for the gold medal match on October 1, which will be a best-of-seven (Bo7).
