More signs are pointing toward the possible closure of Nagoshi Studio, the studio founded by Toshihiro Nagoshi, best known as the creator of Yakuza. While there has been no official statement from the studio or parent company NetEase, fans have started noticing several worrying developments.
Users noticed that Nagoshi Studio’s website is no longer accessible, while the studio’s YouTube channel has been cleared of trailers and promotional materials for Gang of Dragon. Additionally, the studio is now listed on Google Maps as “Permanently closed.”
According to earlier reports from Bloomberg, employees at the studio had allegedly been informed that NetEase planned to end funding in May. Many believe this is the main reason behind the studio’s apparent shutdown. Reports also claim that Gang of Dragon still required around $44 million to complete development.
Gang of Dragon was announced in late 2025 as the debut title from Nagoshi Studio after Toshihiro Nagoshi left Sega in 2021. The project was described as a cinematic action adventure set in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district with a crime-focused storyline.
