Play by Play Studios has unveiled the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming project, NBA The Run. Alongside the video, the developers announced the release window — the game is set to launch in June 2026.
NBA The Run focuses on fast-paced street basketball matches in a 3v3 format. In addition to previously known technical features such as rollback netcode, low latency, and cross-platform play, the developers also revealed details about game modes and mechanics.
A new mechanic called “In The Zone,” based on gameplay momentum, gives players access to unique “signature” abilities depending on their performance. These abilities can be both offensive and defensive.
Players will be able to level up their street basketball legends. One of the playable characters will be real-life streetball legend Bobbito García.
Winning matches rewards players with an in-game currency called Cred, which can be spent on cosmetic items such as jerseys, dunk animations, banners, and emotes.
The game will also feature Knockout Tournaments consisting of four rounds held on iconic street courts around the world. Matches will be short, and the rules will be randomized to maintain a dynamic pace.
As a reminder, a TV series based on the game Atomfall is currently in development.
