NetherRealm Studios head Ed Boon has confirmed that the studio is currently working on multiple new projects, including the next entry in the Mortal Kombat franchise.
According to Boon, the team is not ready to reveal more details yet. The developer joked that if he teased anything further, he would “probably get in trouble.”
He also noted that NetherRealm has plans not only for games, but for other forms of media as well. At the same time, the studio has officially ended post launch support for Mortal Kombat 1.
Rumors suggest that NetherRealm is also developing Injustice 3, meaning fans may have to wait quite a while for the next Mortal Kombat. Still, Boon made it clear that the franchise is far from over.
The series is also continuing on the big screen. Following the release of Mortal Kombat II, a third movie is already in development.
As a Reminder, Nintendo announces Star Fox 64 remake for Switch 2.
