Valve have released an update for Counter-Strike 2 that affects several critical aspects of the game — from animations to gameplay and sound.
The most important change is the transition to AnimGraph 2. The new beta animation system reduces CPU and network load while making player movements smoother and more predictable. All third-person animations have been reworked.
For example, players can now see the knife draw animation on other players:
This is currently only available in the AnimGraph 2 beta system, which can be enabled, but you won’t be able to join official VALVE servers while using it. So how can you enable it?
- Go to your library
- Right-click on CS2
- Select “Properties”
- Go to “Game Versions and Betas”
- Scroll down — you’ll find the new beta version there
Significant changes have also been made to movement physics: player behavior on slopes and ramps has been fixed — model height is now consistent and no longer depends on movement direction. In terms of gameplay, an important update is the new player occlusion system using GPU queries. It fixes issues where player models could be seen through thin walls, directly improving the fairness of gunfights.
The audio system has also received a noticeable upgrade: the sound mix has been updated, landing and damage sounds have been improved, and a new C4 equip sound has been added. In addition, several bugs have been fixed, including missing menu sounds and issues with DeathCam.
