Nintendo Direct: All Announcements from the Summer Showcase

The June Nintendo Direct turned out to be incredibly generous in terms of announcements. The company delivered over an hour of presentations, confirming the development of long-awaited remakes, brand-new games, and a large number of ports of major hits for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console.

Major announcements and remakes

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake

The biggest news of the presentation – the iconic game is being “reborn” for Nintendo Switch 2. No full gameplay was shown yet, but a short teaser confirmed a release in 2026.

Xenoblade Genesis and trilogy for Switch 2

A true celebration for JRPG fans. Xenoblade 1, 2, and 3 will receive upgraded versions for Switch 2 (60 FPS, 4K in docked mode, 1080p handheld). At the same time, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition with an update pack is available digitally starting today. Additionally, a brand-new entry in the series was announced – Xenoblade Genesis, scheduled for release next year.

Kingdom Hearts 4 and classic collection

The new Kingdom Hearts 4 will be available on Switch 2 on the console’s launch day. Meanwhile, on October 8 this year, the Kingdom Hearts (I–III) collection will arrive on the platform – games can be purchased together or separately.

Nintendo franchises and entertainment

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

A spiritual successor to the legendary Wii Sports Resort will release on Switch 2 on October 22. The game will include a wide variety of sports: boxing, table tennis, volleyball, bowling, basketball, golf, jump rope, archery, tennis, jet skiing, theatrical performance, and even thumb wrestling. Skateboarding will use the new mouse-like feature of the updated Joy-Con controllers.

Rhythm Heaven Groove

The presentation opened with this game. The new installment releases on July 2 for Switch and Switch 2 and includes over 80 rhythm mini-games.

Splatoon Raiders

A new single-player adventure will release on July 23. The game will receive its own limited-edition Joy-Con controllers, and more details will be shared in a dedicated future full Direct.

Star Fox demo available today

The full release is coming soon – June 25 – and a free demo with the first levels is available on the eShop now.

Donkey Kong events and Mario collaboration

A DK Challenge event with limited-time trials and rewards is launching on Nintendo Switch Online. Additionally, in celebration of Mario’s 40th anniversary, Donkey Kong Bananza is getting Mario and Luigi costumes for DK and Pauline starting today.

Exclusives and major third-party releases

Final Fantasy Resonance

The first Final Fantasy game in a signature HD-2D style. The project launches on October 22 for both Switch generations.

Stellar Blade and Orbitals

The original Stellar Blade will release on Switch 2 in 2026. Also revealed was Orbitals – a visually unique Switch 2 exclusive with GameShare support. Release date: September 3, with pre-orders available starting today.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

A turn-based tactical RPG releasing on September 17 for Switch 2. At launch, players will also get a special Dagdan Collection edition.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen

An expanded edition of Capcom’s massive RPG will arrive on the new console on October 9.

Lies of P and Devil May Cry 5

The complete edition of the soulslike Lies of P: Complete Edition arrives on Switch 2 on August 6. Meanwhile, demon-slaying in Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition will be available on the new handheld starting June 23.

Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet

The first part of the sequel to the colorful action game will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

Other important release dates

Short announcements, indies, and Sizzle Reel games

The Duskbloods

A dark, Bloodborne-style game received a trailer and announced a closed online test later this year.

Pokémon Pokopia

A free update is available today, with three paid DLCs planned as part of an Expansion Pass.

Minecraft on Switch 2

Minecraft will receive a full version for Nintendo Switch 2, including the ability to transfer existing worlds.

Ray-Man Legends Retold

A remake of the platformer with up to 4-player co-op and GameShare support.

Pikuniku 2

A quirky sequel from Devolver Digital will release on Switch 2 next year.

Big Walk and One Piece: Grand Gourmet

Big Walk (from the creators of Untitled Goose Game) and the cooking simulator One Piece: Grand Gourmet are also officially confirmed for Switch 2.

Finally, Nintendo showed a rapid montage of ports joining the Nintendo Switch 2 library. These include: Observer, DayZ, Metal Gear Solid 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Tales of Eternia, SnowRunner, Fitness Boxing 3: Personal Trainer, Everbloom, and Final Fantasy XV Online.
