PlayStation 3, which is almost 20 years old, received another system update Sony has released firmware version 4.92 for its 2006 console.
“This system software update improves system performance,” the update description says.
However, the real purpose of this update is technical — updating AACS encryption keys for the built-in Blu-ray player. This is required so the console can properly play new Blu-ray movies released in 2026.
Without this update, users may encounter problems when trying to watch recent Blu-ray releases or when signing in to PSN.
Reminder: NaVi advanced through the upper bracket, while B8 dropped to the lower bracket at BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026.
