PlayStation 6 Development Remains on Track as Sony Prepares for Next Generation

Sony has officially confirmed that work on the PlayStation 6 and the next console generation as a whole is progressing according to schedule. This was announced by Sony Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Lin Tao during the financial results presentation.

Company management expects to make a significant step forward in preparing the new platform during the upcoming fiscal year. Starting from this period, Sony plans to begin active investments into the development and infrastructure of the next-generation console.

Sony emphasizes the importance of balanced investment to maintain platform stability, stating that official announcements will take place at an appropriate time. Although an exact release date for the PS6 has not yet been set, analysts note rising component costs. Rumors suggest the potential development of a handheld device, as well as claims that PS6 manufacturing will be cheaper than Microsoft's competing system codenamed Xbox Helix.

PlayStation 5 sales have already reached 97.9 million units, and thanks to the upcoming release of GTA 6, the console will soon surpass the 100 million mark.
