PlayStation to Allow Publishers to Reprint Physical Copies of Existing Games After January 2028

Sony has informed its publishing partners that they will be able to order additional production runs of physical copies for games already released before January 2028. The announcement clarifies recent online speculation suggesting that PlayStation planned to completely end physical releases on the platform.

According to a report from Game File, Sony's message to partners confirms that publishers will retain the ability to place reprint orders for games launched before the January 2028 deadline. However, the process for submitting and managing those orders will change, with further details to be announced at a later date.

As a result, players will continue to be able to purchase physical editions of games released before the cutoff, including titles launched in 2027, even after January 2028.

For entirely new games releasing after January 2028, Sony will instead allow publishers to distribute their titles in retail stores through digital download codes rather than physical discs.

Earlier, reports suggested that the virtual K-pop group K/DA from League of Legends could make its return in 2026.
