The developers of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS continue to expand close-quarters combat capabilities. Update 43.1 introduces a new Kick mechanic to the game, adding more options for interacting with enemies and the environment.
The new mechanic is available across all game modes. Unlike standard melee attacks, the kick features a stronger knockback effect and can also be used to interact with specific objects on the map. Specifically, Kick can be used to destroy certain windows, wooden doors, fences, cans, and tires.
Through this, the developers aim to make close-quarters combat not just a backup option when lacking other gear, but another element of interaction with the game world. The new mechanic may influence how players interact with their environment during matches.
However, Kick is not the only change related to close-quarters combat. Back in 2026, PUBG Studios announced its intention to gradually expand this area of gameplay. As part of their roadmap, the developers introduced the Execution system, which added special finish-off animations for knocked-down opponents using melee items. The first such features became available in Update 41.2.
The gradual expansion of such mechanics shows that PUBG Studios is experimenting not only with new content, but also with the very structure of player interaction. Close-quarters combat is gaining more functionality, while the map environment is becoming a more important part of the gameplay.
Update 43.1 marks another step in this direction. The developers continue to add new capabilities to PUBG while preserving the core battle royale formula.
Update 43.1 is already featured in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. A full list of changes and other features is available in the game's official patch notes.
The update will launch on September 10 on PC and September 17 on consoles. Along with it, a collaboration with Jujutsu Kaisen will also kick off in PUBG.
