REANIMAL Gets Its First DLC, The Prisoner, With New Characters and Locations

The dark adventure REANIMAL from Tarsier Studios, the creators of Little Nightmares, has received its first story expansion, The Prisoner. The DLC continues the game's grim journey through a world filled with monsters and deadly obstacles. The original game was well received by players and managed to earn stronger reactions than Little Nightmares 3.

The new chapter introduces two central characters, The Soldier and The Prisoner. Their journey takes them through war-ravaged streets and previously unexplored areas of the REANIMAL world. According to Tarsier Studios, the story sends the two characters down a “rabbit hole” that could change their lives forever.

The Prisoner also expands the game's lore by revealing more about its mysterious world and secrets that have remained hidden for a long time. Players will get another look at familiar characters, while the deliberately minimalistic storytelling leaves plenty of room for personal interpretation.

The Prisoner is only the first part of The Expanded World, a planned three-chapter DLC series designed to further develop REANIMAL. The two remaining chapters will introduce additional stories and take players to other unexplored corners of the game's unsettling world.

The DLC launched alongside an update that also improves the main game. Tarsier Studios has reworked the HDR tone mapper to enhance the visuals and fixed various bugs, crashes, and network stability issues. Several known problems are still being investigated, including a camera issue that can appear in the Junkyard during online co-op and a problem that may cause a companion to become stuck during one section of the DLC.

The Prisoner requires the base version of REANIMAL to play. The expansion is available as a standalone purchase and is also included with REANIMAL Digital Deluxe Edition. The base game and Deluxe Edition are currently discounted by up to 25% until August 14.
