REANIMAL Sales Pass 1 Million Copies as Embracer Teases DLC Expansion

THQ Nordic and Embracer Group have announced that the co-op horror game REANIMAL has officially sold more than 1 million copies since launch. In its latest financial report, the company described the title as one of its strongest recent new IP debuts and said the game launched to a “strong reception from fans and critics alike.”

Embracer CEO Phil Rogers also praised Tarsier Studios, stating:

“The incredible team at Tarsier Studios have captured the hearts and minds of players with this new IP and have something to really build on for the long-term.”

The report suggests that Embracer sees REANIMAL as a long-term franchise rather than a standalone release. The company also noted that the game became the main driver among its new releases during the quarter.

Embracer additionally confirmed post-launch support plans. The major expansion, The Expanded World, will be released across three chapters, with Chapter 1 currently scheduled for Q2 FY 2026/27, meaning a launch window between July 1 and September 30, 2026.

In the PC/Console Games section of the report, the publisher stated:

“REANIMAL received positive ratings from critics and users, delivering a solid release quarter for a new IP, with more than one million copies sold since the release.”

Developed by Tarsier Studios and published by THQ Nordic, REANIMAL launched on February 13, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The horror puzzle-platformer follows an orphaned brother and sister trying to survive a flooded nightmare version of their island while searching for their missing friends.
