Insider NateTheHate has reaffirmed that Rockstar is still planning to release an enhanced version of Red Dead Redemption 2 for current generation consoles. According to him, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X S editions remain on track and could arrive later this year.
Reports about a next gen upgrade for the open world western have been circulating for a long time, and this latest update adds more weight to those claims. It is suggested that the enhanced release would likely launch ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI, which is scheduled for November, meaning an official announcement from Rockstar could happen in the near future.
Another major topic surrounding this upgrade is pricing. Based on Rockstar’s previous decisions, including multiple re releases of Grand Theft Auto V, a free upgrade seems unlikely. Instead, players will probably need to purchase a dedicated version of the game for newer hardware.
Although Red Dead Redemption 2 already holds up extremely well, a PS5 and Xbox Series X S version could significantly boost visual fidelity and performance. Such improvements would help the game fully take advantage of modern consoles and reinforce its reputation as one of the most impressive titles of its generation.
