Riot Games Allocates $500,000 to Support Esports and Technology in US Schools as Part of Worlds 2026

Riot Games continues its partnership with the nonprofit organization DonorsChoose, announcing the allocation of $500,000 for educational projects in US public schools. The initiative coincides with the League of Legends World Championship (Worlds 2026), which will take place in the United States from October 15 to November 14.

The program aims to integrate video games, esports, and STEM disciplines into the educational process. The allocated funds will help teachers overcome resource shortages to establish school esports clubs, purchase necessary gaming equipment, and develop educational initiatives in programming, science, and technology.

This year's campaign is phased and focuses on the states hosting the tournament. The funding will be distributed according to the following schedule:

If funds remain after these phases, Riot Games will launch a nationwide donation-matching campaign for gaming and esports projects across the country on December 1, for Giving Tuesday.

The partnership between Riot Games and DonorsChoose has been successfully ongoing since 2023. During this time, the organizations have collectively directed over $1 million toward educational resources, benefiting nearly 1,000 teachers and over 110,000 students. Driven by this collaboration, the demand for integrating games into education has grown significantly, with funding requests for related projects increasing by 126%.

According to representatives of the initiative, the primary goal of these joint efforts is to help teachers inspire the next generation of game developers and esports professionals, stimulate creativity, boost STEM learning, and bring students together.
