A Brazilian court has ordered Riot Games to pay 15 million Brazilian reais (approximately $2.9 million) in collective moral damages. This was reported by Sheep Esports, citing a report by Metrópoles.
The legal case was triggered by the loot box mechanics in League of Legends. The lawsuit is part of a public civil action filed by the National Association of Child and Adolescent Protection Centers. The compensation awarded will be directed entirely to the Federal District Fund for the Protection of the Rights of Children and Adolescents in Brazil.
As a reminder, a major Chaos Cubed update is coming to Minecraft.
