Video game platform Roblox has announced the introduction of dedicated accounts for younger users to strengthen online safety, as it faces intense global scrutiny over potential risks to children.
The platform will roll out two types of accounts in June: Roblox Kids for children aged 5 to 8, and Roblox Select for users aged 9 to 15. An age verification system, which includes facial scanning, will automatically assign users to the appropriate account type.
- Roblox Kids: Users will only have access to games with “minimal” or “mild” maturity ratings. Chat functionality will be disabled by default.
- Roblox Select: Users will be able to play games rated “moderate.” Chat features will be introduced gradually with additional safety measures, allowing communication only with family members, friends, or peers.
As a reminder, FUT Esports were crowned champions of the debut season of Female Pro League: Frozen Diva.
