American retail chain Best Buy may have accidentally confirmed the start date for pre-orders of Grand Theft Auto VI. The information was reported by The Sixth Axis.
The details surfaced after the retailer reportedly sent emails to its affiliates. The message mentioned the possibility of receiving a 5% commission on online sales made between May 18 and May 21. Since such rewards cannot be issued without active sales, this strongly suggests that pre-orders will open on May 18.
Traditionally, the launch of pre-orders is accompanied by new promotional materials. As a result, the third and reportedly final trailer for the game could be released simultaneously with the start of sales or shortly afterward.
As a reminder, Rockstar Games is reportedly preparing a large-scale marketing campaign for GTA VI during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
